More than just an Autobiography
Monday, July 13, 2009
Pour your heart out, narrate a plain real life story or just carve it in a glossy way. An autobiography is all this and more. It has the power to create ripples across the world when one goes beyond just deriving sentences from the book of life. And in the making of a delicious one, the recipe turns out to be a bit spicy for the readers to digest.
Why does one do that? May be to sell it like hotcakes or simply find it the easiest way to get away with the guilt of an incident. But the escape may not really be a cakewalk. Though, some manage to come out clean but the rest become toys in the hands of critics. They play and enjoy, leaving behind the readers guessing the five 'W' and one 'H'– When, Why, What, Where, Who and How. Yes! It sells for both the writer and the critic. The common man is in no way the gainer. He is just a puppet in the hands of media and the writer for the obvious reason – he’s unaware of what lies behind the scenes.
Such has been the case with few of those cricket autobiographies that made all the hoopla it was expected of or might came as a shock. Let's have a glance over those ingredients in some that made everyone say – "It's different".
