Vengsarkar, More give thumbs up to India's T20 squad

Former chief selectors Dilip Vengsarkar and Kiran More on Monday gave a thumbs up to the Indian squad selected for the Twenty20 World Championship and said the team stands a very good chance of retaining the title in England.

Vengsarkar said the 15-member squad selected on Monday has quality all-rounders and they would come in handy in England's seaming conditions.

"More or less the same squad has been retained. The Indian team is doing very well and the IPL has also been a great hit and many all-rounders are performing well. "With England hosting the World Cup, the role of all-rounders will be important as in English conditions the ball will do a bit and India has many good all-rounders like Irfan Pathan and I think India has a good chance to retain the Cup," Vengsarkar said.

However, the Mumbaikar felt all-rounder Abhishek Nayar, who plays for the Mumbai Indians, deserved a place in the 15-member squad as he has been consistent.

"I personally feel, Abhishek should have been included in the squad. He is a good batsman and played some good innings in the middle order for the Mumbai team. He is also a healthy medium pacer and would have proved helpful in England," he said.

More also gave a thumbs up to the selection and said deserving players have got the chance.

"I think the guys who have been picked are the future of Indian Team. Ravindra Jadeja has been the find of the IPL and has been doing well for the last 2-3 years. Pragyan Ojha, Yusuf Pathan they have done well and I would be looking forward to them," More said

"Guys who have performed they have been selected in the team and guys who didn't, were left out. Joginder Sharma has not done well at all, he has been struggling so he is not in the team," he added.
