Selectors may not consider him good enough for a place in Sri Lanka's ODI team but veteran Sri Lankan pacer Chaminda Vaas is keen to play in the 2011 World Cup before quitting the game.

Vaas is out of the Sri Lankan one-day team since being axed from the side before the home series against India. "They might have dropped me for now from the one-day side but I feel I can comeback. Because I want to play the 2011 World Cup and then say goodbye to cricket," the left arm pacer said.

Vaas, who has taken 354 Test and 400 one-day wickets and is his country's most successful bowler after champion spinner Muttiah Muralitharan said although he has not set any personal targets but he wants to play in the next World Cup. "It would be my last World Cup. Sri Lanka won the first World Cup I played. So it would be great to go out in this tournament," he said.

Vaas said he had been working hard on his fitness. "Right now I am concentrating on this Test series against Pakistan because they are the most difficult (side) to beat on their own ground," he said.

Vaas, 35, said he was looking forward to the two Tests as it would give him a good opportunity to show the selectors he was still fit and hungry for success.

I regard Mr.Vaas a veteran in pace bowling. His long tenure in this lot is worth watching. His can be compare to Mr.Rihard Hardlee of Newzeland. we saw his actions from Mr.Sunil Gavaskar to Mr.Gautham Gambir. If his ambition is to represent his country in the fourth caming WC let us pray for that...hats off to him.

Lankan speedster Chaminda Vaas is a legend. His determination and love for the Gentleman's Game will certainly inspire countless youngsters in the Emerald Islands to take up fast bowling. Best wishes to Vaas in his preparations for the World Cup.
