Hi, I am a big fan of Shewag. However, off late I am worried, casue I am fearing that he might go the Ganguly way. Shewag need to constantly keep improving his game. His shot selection for short pitched deliveries is absurd. His current skill has got him a place in the Indian team, however he needs to keep developing his skills, if not he would become an easy target for the oppnents and will lose out favour with the selectors soon.

It could be so especially when you are injury prone as lot of Indian cricketers are. Also, at times, it looks apparent that the Indian players are not used to hard grinds. Most of them get injuries during practice. Keeping fit is just not a physical manifestation, it is also to do with your mind set. We could safely say that Indian players are not fully fit physically and surely are half fit mentally.

The business of cricket is becoming bigger and it may not be surprise if it overtakes football. Player and the respective cricket boards have to take a prudent approach. Indian players like to play each and every international fixture because of money and fame as most of the top players are doing extra duty with ad films. Therefore they want to be seen in the media like headline news everyday. Prudent approach and long term view from the players are critical if they want to play and enjoy the fame for a long term.

True, the players are over worked. They should be given adequate rest. No point in saying that international players should be able to take up this challenge and play when asked to. Have a look at the Australian system. They give their players a compulsory rest in between big games. This also gives a chance to test the bench strength. Again the Australian system has brought about good or great players from their bench strength. BCCI should follow this example set by the Australians. There are so many good players waiting in the sidelines without getting any chances.
