Can cricket soothe some of the anguish caused to civil society by senseless acts of terror?

We have been a cricket-crazy country ever since independence. Incidents such as bomb blasts and attacks have taken place countless times in the past; much more than a peaceful country can count in its history. After every such incident we have continued to play cricket with Pakistan, in the hope that we can soothe the anguish and beter our relationship. Has it happened in the past? Has it taken some of the bitterness off our relationship with Pakistan? We still continue to see senseless, brutal killings. Thats because its not cricket that ensures peace and tranquility. Cricket is a celebration of that. Its your mentality towards your neighbour that ensures peace. And unless both the concerned parties think alike, cricket or no cricket, there's going to be violence.

Never..... infact we should play less cricket...such acts of terror should not be forgotten...until the enemy is crushed...this is one thing we can learn and should ape, from the westerners....

England's recent form in one-dayers has been striking after they trounced South Africa 4-0 at home. The return of Andrew Flintoff and Steve Harmison has been vital, but England will need their entire side firing if they are to get the better of India on their home turf.
