squads
England's recent form in one-dayers has been striking after they trounced South Africa 4-0 at home. The return of Andrew Flintoff and Steve Harmison has been vital, but England will need their entire side firing if they are to get the better of India on their home turf.
Trivia
India created cricket history with their magnificent win over England - their first ever winning total of 300-plus in the fourth innings of a Test match in India.
History
The two teams started playing Tests only in 1932, but their cricketing relations date back to 1877. Pre-Independence, the cricketing tours were mostly obligatory. Politics and diplomacy dictated those tours. Serious cricket was played only after India became a free nation.
