Profile

Named after former BCCI president Mangalam Chinnaswamy, the cricket stadium in Bangalore, originally named as Karnataka State Cricket Association Stadium, was built in 1969. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was given a Test status 1974-75 when West Indies toured India while it hosted the first One-Day International in 1982 against Sri Lanka. This is also the home ground for National Cricket Academy and IPL's Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Players like Sir Vivian Richards, Gordon Greenidge and Michael Clarke made their Test debut on this ground. So far it has hosted 17 Tests, out of which 10 matches have produced results while 7 ended in draw. It is not a very happy hunting Test ground for India as they have won only four matches and lost six. However in ODIs, Indian team has faired better. Out of the 16 ODIs India has played 14 matches; winning nine, losing four and one producing no result.
