This is just the second ODI tournament for Hong Kong. They had debuted in the 2004 Asia Cup, and were walloped twice – by 116 runs against Bangladesh, and by 173 runs against Pakistan. Their team, like the UAE’s, is primarily made of expats – eight Pakistanis, and one each from India, Australia and South Africa.
Captain Tabarak Dar is from Pakistan. The side has a collective ODI experience of eight matches. India and Pakistan should not have problems brushing Hong Kong aside in their Group B games. |
