A three-tier security arrangement would be put in place by Assam Police for the sixth One-Day International match at the Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.

The paramilitary personnel would be pressed into service to provide security cover to the cricketers, while police was also considering air surveillance during the match.

"We are making all the arrangements for security of the players and the match successfully. A three-tier security measure has been made for the two teams' practice sessions at the 20,000-seater stadium on Saturday," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) P C Saloi said on Thursday.

"Players of both the teams will be brought from the airport on their arrival here under police escort. Security arrangements have been made and our forces with paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the two team hotels. CRPF and state police also have been sufficiently deployed at the venue," he added.

Stating there was no specific security threat perception to the players or the stadium as of now, the SSP said, "Air surveillance would also be done if necessary."
